RRR and Making the Future are very pleased to present a free, online, series of zine workshops with the incredible Shy Bairns.

Over the course of four weeks Shy Bairns will use the Culture Lab collection (now online at https://culturelab.makingthefuture.eu) as a reference to encourage participants to create zine pieces that resonate with them. Together Shy Bairns and Participants will work collaboratively towards creating an online zine. Workshops will include drawing, writing, photography, scanning from phone and of course craic.

Shy Bairns are a Manchester based artist collective interested in the intersections of contemporary art and bookmaking, and the activation of projects within that space. Their practice aims to create more of a conversation between artist/curator, exhibition/artwork, and viewer/reader. Print runs through the core of the practice, utilising zines, print workshops and installations to create collaborative works. They are interested in ideas of identity, community, popular culture, and interactivity, with projects ranging from exhibitions about fan culture (Fanspeak at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester, 2019), to contemplating artist development within collectives (Jerwood Arts, London, 2019).
Shy Bairns is the is the collaborative practice of artists, designers and curators Izzy Kroese, Erin Blamire, Eleanor Haswell and George Gibson.

Workshops will run weekly on a Saturday at 1pm on Zoom.
