16 – 25 year old Bakers! ( and 16-25year olds who have never baked in your lives) you have two weeks to apply for this absolute lol of an event!
Bagenal’s Castle, AKA Newry & Mourne Museum was purchased by Arthur McCann Ltd in 1894 and converted into The Victoria Bakery, popularly known as McCanns Bakery. The bakery expanded over the years, at it’s height employing over 100 people and ran until 1996.
What location than this would be more perfect to host our upcoming Bake Off event I ask you?
What the day will look like:
*Museum Tour: Hear about the history and heritage of Newry and Mourne Museum & McCanns Bakery
*Watch an expert demonstrate how to create the perfect sponge cake.
*Bake your own cake based on the live demo ( what could possibly go wrong?)
*Dream up a spectacular cake design, based on the Museum Collection pieces
*Illustrate your cake design, bake-off style, with help from a graphic designer.
*Enjoy a delicious free lunch ( and snacks throughout the day)
*Decorate your cake and thus create a Bake Off showstopper
*Get your work judged by expert Museum Staff!
Could you be crowned the winner of the 2021 Great Newry Bake off?

*The days proceedings will be filmed for a Bake Off style mockumentary.
