–A 6-week course taking young people through a wide variety of digital fabrication techniques – such as 3d scanning and printing, laser engraving, and different maker activities.
Participants were introduced to the beautiful temporary trad exhibition ‘The Fiddle and The Fife’. The exhibition focus on the tradition of music as a unifying force; as tunes, songs and musical styles travel and cross pollinate with the constant movement of people down through the centuries. It delves into the world of makers, players and places. The life stories of the craftsmen, the musicians and the gathering places where they performed are explored.
Taking inspiration from the exhibition, participants created a range of laser cut violins, etched with their own reinterpreted designs and images.
